FRESH FROM A VISIT the previous day to the Liverpool John Moores University Screen School, the computer Bus man was up early to get the bus up to Andreas.
Years 2 and 3 had been on visit to the Island’s Castle Rushen, and the task was to create a promotional poster for the castle using photos they had taken during their visit.
As well as creating display lettering in Comic Life, the children used Apple’s Pages (Page Layout) to create an original poster using amongst other skills ‘instant alpha’, ‘make editable’, ‘send to back/front’, ‘mask’, ‘mask with shape’, ‘lock’, ‘rotate’ and much more.
They also used Apple’s Preview and ‘smart lasso’ to extract figures from photos and used copy and paste and drag and drop, alt+drag and more to combine all these into attractive posters.
The day before as well as looking at the impressive facilities of the Liverpool John Moores University Screen School Redmond building, the computer bus man had the opportunity to show the work of the computer bus and the Island’s primary schools to the university’s Higher Education professionals gathered for the meeting. They were ‘well impressed’,.
One day maybe some of the computer bus alumni will find their way to the Redmond Building on Brownlow Hill in Liverpool.
