TODAY there was a range of activities to ‘support teaching and learning’ about the Peel Castle and its history, layout, flora and fauna.
As well as a chance to get to grips with and label a 3-D model of the castle itself (left), there was plenty of orientating, locating and labelling photographs of flowers seen around the castle.
The boys and girls also had a chance to create their own ‘Mayweed’ and/or ‘Sheep Sorrell’, and there was also a chance to begin a major video editing task using a Quicktime movie of the castle and some commentary, music and sound effects...
30 children came on the bus during the morning, with another group who had already seen the castle arriving during the afternoon...
School brought eight laptop computers along as well to make up the numbers, and boys and girls using these could sit on the step out of the sunlight to carry out similar tasks. (These even picked up the computerbus printer using the new wireless network on board the bus - which is also being used to upload this website direct from Peel Harbour!)
All done, it was aboard the ProTours coaches back to Auldyn, knowing just a little more about Peel and its castle - and with even more know-how about how to ‘support teaching and learning’ using the school’s own ICT equipment...
NEXT WEEK - Ballakermeen High School!
