THE FINAL VISIT to St.Mary’s RC School and St.Ninian’s High School saw Year 6 with Miss Strathdee and her class looking at spreadsheets and graphs. The children used Apple’s ‘Numbers’ program and after a brief history of the modern desktop spreadsheet (VisiCalc, Excel etc) looked at cells, formulae, calculations, formatting, graphs (and their appropriate and inappropriate use) and more.
After lunch Miss Jackson’s Reception group came on board for their first (and last) visit and got to grips in the short time available with creating images using Apple’s Pages program. This involved using a computer mouse, dragging shapes from the menu and rearranging and reformatting those shapes as appropriate.
Later, it was a second session for Mr Dargan’s Year 10 ASDAN group from St.Ninian’s and they developed their ‘Inclusion’ posters from last week.
During the session, members of Year 6 presented the computer bus man with a delightful bag of ‘Bear Essentials’ [sic] including deluxe biscuits. These were not just biscuits - M&S biscuits. Thank YOU !
Well done to all those involved - and a fitting way to bring the computer bus man’s involvement with both schools dating back to April 14th 1975 to and end.
