AS WELL AS reinstating the school’s own green screen (it had been in storage since the move from Fairfield to the new school a couple of years ago), the boys and girls also took advantage of the advanced editing facilities available on board the computer bus to edit the footage using multiple layers of green screen to create the desired effect.
As well as being able to add themselves to a version of the BBC Winterwatch studio, they were also able to add a moving winter snow scene visible through the ‘windows’, then transfer to Alaska for an arctic-themed report about plastics and climate change.
Much of this can be recreated using the school’s own equipment but courtesy of the computer bus, a 27” iMac complete with Final Cut X has been left in the school to allow the boys and girls in Year 6 to use this as well - a splendid experience as they prepare for secondary school.
The bus will return to HBN in a couple of weeks to follow up this exercise.
