THIS YEAR marks the centenary of the end of World War 1. Today Year 6 embarked on the start of an elaborate multimedia project to produce a series of 30s movies to mark the occasion based on their local studies of the Island’s involvement in “The Great War”.
Today was spent mainly creating ‘assets’ for the movies, including animations and lettering. Next week will see these being combined with sounds to make a finished film.
A startling array of software is available to create mulimedia material on the school computers (more on the Bus but we stuck with that which they have access to themselves). As well as graphics and sound manipulation tools we also have programs such as GarageBand and iMovie which can be used to combine the products of individual programs to make a finished piece. This is what we will be doing next time.
As usual the splendid boys and girls of Year 6 used their considerable abilities and imagination for the entire day and were an absolute pleasure - making the long drive up to Sulby really worthwhile.
Here’s to next week...
