TODAY the boys and girls from Chernobyl were back on the bus as their annual visit to the Isle of Man begins.

First off was SketchUp, the superb 3D modelling program which was first used by primary schools in the Isle of Man back in 2003...

The task was to create a 3D cityscape.

After crating a plan view of the buildings, the children then used the push/pull tool to extrude the shapes. Textures were added next then people, cars, street furniture and vegetation courtesy of the components library.

Having created a portion of their city, they then selected all, grouped, copied and pasted several times to very quickly expand their cityscape.

After lunch the attention then moved on to programming in SCRATCH, using the MIT website though with the Russian language turned on. Regrettably the translation only extends to the software and doesn’t appear to include the video tutorials which remain in English.

All was well though as the ice cream van turned up on this warm afternoon.

On hand today to assist the computer bus man was Ryan from RGS on work experience.
